The Process - what's involved?
Compassionate enquiry is a process of kind, gentle, but deep, enquiry into your belief systems and perceptions that make up your world. Its through your mind that you make the world in front of you, but we need to understand that firstly, it was the world that sculpted your mind, creating many perceptions, values, beliefs and more that you operate from, mostly unconsciously.
All therapy is about relationship, it takes time to develop a relationship where you can trust me to allow you to share what's going on for you. So the tempo is slow but progressive at the same time, ideally I want to make myself redundant as quickly as possible. Time is taken to understand where you're at now and where you want to be ideally.
Wound worship - traditional psychotherapy can focus on the original trauma you may have experienced, going over it again to establish a different view, or perhaps regulate your response to it etc. I understand, that whilst the events are traumatic, the real trauma happens inside of you as a result of the event, i.e. that you may continue to live your life with the hallmarks of that trauma, sculpting how you are in the world in the present moment.
Ultimately, the aim of therapy is to allow you to be the most authentic version of yourself in the present moment, accepting that as we get older we don't change, we simply get the opportunity to become more of what we really are, not the guise of adaption we've had to be to operate in the world to date.
Kindness, care, compassion and more is offered in heaps to support you into safety, so that you can process and arrive at where you want to be.
You've taken a time to walk deep into the forest, and its going to take time therefore to walk out, so steady and surely, you'll be supported on this journey.
Sessions are 50mins, ideally once per week but often bimonthly to start off with, then further support as you need.
Hope that helps clarify the process for you, any queries then please ask away...
Best, Ben x
Testimonials:
Several months ago, Ben literally scooped me up - a tearful emotional wreck of a mum struggling to navigate the day to day family/work life balance. He gently took me on a journey which has revisited experiences, offering sensible advice and helping me understand and heal traumatic events in my life. I've developed and valuable understanding of myself and who I want to be and am so much happier. I honestly never imagined his help could make such a difference. If you're reading this, be brave and 'just go for it', you won't regret it! KB 47yrs

Ben's help and support over the past year has been invaluable to me. I have found his calm, collected and philosophical nature to be incredibly reassuring and he has given me the opportunity to work through events and stages in my life that I have previously struggled to talk about and make sense of.
The sessions I have had with Ben have been enormously helpful in helping me to gain a different perspective of life in general and to develop an alternative way of thinking to help deal with the various obstacles that life in general can sometimes throw you. I have become much more calm as a result, am so much more happier and have developed a more positive outlook on life in general. Ben has been wonderful and I couldn't recommend him more highly. ----------------------------------------------------------------Ben has literally changed my life, for the better. He suggested taking a different approach to a longer term problem and we began looking deeper. Ben gently guided me towards discovering things I had no idea about myself. Deep seated and long held beliefs that, unknown to me, were often having a detrimental effect on everyday life. Through this journey he calmly, patiently and gently showed me how to recognise and look after these and be the calmer, happier and more settled person I am today. There were times when it wasn't easy but Ben was always there and always managed to suggest a way to make things seem better. There were also times when it was fun and we'd laugh through the session. My only regret is I didn't know about this sooner. I can't recommend Ben and his compassionate, gentle and successful approach to psychotherapy enough. HP 46yrs
I was feeling incredibly isolated and low, and in physical pain, when I first started sessions with Ben. He helped me to tap into some deep-seated memories and beliefs that I had yet to recognise how to respond to and dialogue with internally in a more compassionate way - this more holistic body-based/somatic approach felt powerful and sensitive. The sessions were challenging, but full of support and also humour. Ben provides a safe space, with openness, warmth, and kindness.
I’m pretty sure our sessions helped shift something within me that boosted my ability to interview with a different energy and secure a new job.
You will feel that Ben is on your team - spurring you on to question/uncover your current and habitual thoughts and actions (that might be causing you harm or holding you back), meanwhile always working alongside you on a journey to try to help (re)connect you to your most authentic self and values.
